Abstract: Wind energy is a type of non-polluting and regenerative energy with great potential.Based on the wind observation data from 1971 to 2007 in 9 weather stations,assessment parameters of wind energy resource were analyzed in order to obtain the factual distributions of wind energy resource in Wafangdian region of Liaoning province.The results indicate that wind energy resource is rich along the coast land of Wafangdian region,and it decreases gradually from the western coast land to the eastern island area.The monthly average wind speed is higher in spring and at the end of autumn and early winter in Wafangdian region.The closer the distance between observation station and coast is,the stronger the monthly average wind speed is in spring and at the end of autumn and early winter,and vice versa.The dominant wind direction rotates anticlockwise from the western coast land to the middle to the eastern island area in Wafangdian region.
