Abstract:
Based on the different terrain smooth schemes in the weather research and forecast (WRF) model, the numerical simulation of rainstorm process on May 30-31, 2007 in western Hubei province was carried through. And the sensitivity of terrain height was analyzed by WRF model. The results indicate that the terrain smooth schemes with the temporal and spatial distributions of precipitation are related. The closer the terrain is to the actual situation, the closer the temporal and spatial distributions of precipitation are to the actual situation. The terrain height can influence the intensity and falling area of precipitation. The two precipitation centers of windward slope and leeward slope tend to be far away from mountain with the terrain height increase of mountain, and they tend to be close to the mountain after the terrain height reaches the certain height.
