Abstract:
Surface roughness and zero-plane displacement are two important aerodynamic parameters. In the urban underlying surface, the spatial distributions of roughness elements with multiple shapes are very complex and inhomogeneous. Therefore, there has been no optimal method to determine the two parameters over urban underlying surface. The parameterization methods of the two parameters over urban inhomogeneous underlying surface were summarized in this paper, including the wind and temperature observations method and the roughness elements morphology method. The existing problems applying these methods were discussed, and the further tasks were suggested. It is concluded that the roughness elements morphology method will have better prospects for the improvement of mathematical models and the introduction of satellite remote sensing technique.
