Abstract:
Based on the observational data from the last ten days of July to the first ten days of September from 1951 to 2005 in Shenyang, the probabilities and distribution characteristics of the extreme weather/climate events such as high temperature, rainstorm, gale, heavy fog and thunderstorm, which was disadvantageous to sports competition, were analyzed in order to serve for football games in Shenyang during Beijing Olympic Games in 2008.The results showed that the probabilities of high temperature, rainstorm, gale and thunderstorm were higher from the last ten days of July to the first ten days of September, which was disadvantage to the football game.Comparatively, the probabilities of those were lower from the second ten days of August to the first ten days of September, which was advantageous for the football game.
