A heavy rainfall process in August 2007 in Dalian, Liaoning province

Based on the synoptic charts data and the ground automatic station data as well as Doppler radar data, the heavy rainfall process happened from 10 to 12 August, 2007 was analyzed in Dalian, Liaoning province. The results indicate that the generation and development of surface mesoscale cyclone is the dynamic conditions causing the heavy rainfall process. The lower level jet provides a lot of water vapor for the development of the heavy rainfall. The steady high pressure barrier is indispensable to make the rainstorm falling areas fall occurrence in Dalian.
