Methods of soil dissolved organic carbon measurement and their applications

    • It is clearly indicated that dissolved organic carbon(DOC) is an active chemical component in soils, which has significant influence on the solution, adsorption, desorption, transport and toxicity of chemical matter in the soil. Many technical terms related to DOC came up in modern soil study, but methods of DOC measurement were not systemic. From the point of view of different terms, for example, dissolved organic carbon and water-soluble organic carbon, active carbon and labile carbon, microbial biomass carbon, mineralized carbon, the significance of those components of carbon and their measurement methods were reviewed in this paper,in order to improve the understanding of soil organic matter.
